Tennis Above Los Angeles: Inside the Goldstein Residence Paradise Courts Experience

Mar 02, 2026Emanuele D'Angelo

Last weekend, Broken Rackets arrived in Los Angeles to host a Paradise Courts Experience at one of the most iconic private residences in the world: the Goldstein Residence in Beverly Hills, designed by legendary architect John Lautner.

Known to many as Club James, the house sits high above the city like a cinematic viewpoint. We've all seen the angular concrete forms and panoramic views stretching endlessly across Los Angeles in photos.

The residence has long been admired through film, photography, and architecture history, but this time our community experienced it firsthand. For one afternoon, this architectural landmark became our court.

Guests arrived just before noon, stepping through the gates into a setting that felt surreal even by Los Angeles standards. The tennis court, seamlessly integrated into the property’s sculptural landscape, carries the same bold energy as Lautner’s architecture.

Players, creatives, friends of Broken Rackets, and members of our growing international community gathered courtside. Some were meeting for the first time; others reunited after previous Paradise Courts experiences across Europe and beyond. As usual, each guest received a Broken Rackets welcome apparel package.

Warm-ups were led by our friend Coach Eli, who drove in from San Diego that morning. Players eased into the rhythm, rallying casually while adjusting to a court where the views alone made concentration a challenge.

Energy quickly built as we transitioned into King of the Court doubles, rotating partners and encouraging playful competition. As the afternoon progressed, anticipation grew toward the highlight format of the day: the One Point Slam.

Simple rules. One point decides everything.

Players rotated rapidly through matches, each rally carrying sudden weight. Cheers erupted after close points, spectators leaning over the fence as if watching a final rather than a friendly gathering.

The winner received a special prize: a set of exclusive Broken Rackets branded tennis balls created specifically for the experience.

Between matches, guests cooled down with protein coffee by Drink Pres — unexpectedly perfect under the California sun.

After tennis, the pace softened. Oakberry served signature açaí bowls in Broken Rackets cups.

Giorgos Frangulis, founder of Oakberry and partner of Aryna Sabalenka, stopped by and even joined for a few rallies on court.

Guests gathered in small groups around the benches, while others explored the terraces, absorbing the rare opportunity to experience one of Los Angeles’ most iconic homes not as visitors, but as participants.

What made this Los Angeles experience special wasn’t only the location. It was the way architecture, sport, and community merged into something so memorable.

As with all Broken Rackets events, tennis became a connector — a reason to bring together people who might never otherwise meet, sharing time in places few ever access.

As the sun softened and guests slowly departed, the court returned to silence, but the feeling lingered.

The Los Angeles Paradise Courts Experience marked another chapter in Broken Rackets’ evolving world tour. From the cliffs of Capri to alpine settings in Switzerland, tropical courts in Bali, and now a modernist icon above Beverly Hills.

Each destination changes the landscape, but the intention remains the same: exploring tennis as culture, travel, and shared experience.

New locations are already on the horizon.

The next court is waiting.
